Paradise Lost

In the 28 years we’ve been married, my husband and I have not taken a beach vacation, just the two of us. A wonderful opportunity presented itself to celebrate my niece’s wedding in Florida in May. It also happens that my husband is turning 50! We planned a ten-day stay, including wedding festivities and a beachfront hotel room for five nights. It’s pretty much all we talked about once the reservations were made. I bought a few really cute sundresses and fretted about swimsuits. I’ve actually been able to avoid donning swimwear for a couple of summers, which suits me fine. 😉 For this trip I was definitely going to use more than one swimsuit, swim shorts, etc. I was eyeing them as I walked back and forth to the breakroom at my store.

And then there was coronavirus.

I felt sad for my niece that she had to postpone her wedding, and I’m soooooo disappointed that I’m not flying out to Florida the day after tomorrow to begin a long-awaited adventure with my man.

Not so devastated that I won’t be wearing swimsuits on public ocean beaches over the next couple of weeks. Like now, I’ll definitely take advantage of this reprieve to get in better shape. (sarcastic)

I could make it so. I do have time on my hands. Hmmmmm…

p.s. And then I went directly to the kitchen and scooped up a bit of ice cream with a few mini vanilla wafers to make it more interesting. I’m doubtful, at this point, about my new fitness mindset. 🙄
