Hopes are high that the new year will bring good blessings to my husband and me because we’re flying to Puerto Vallarta on the 13th! Bring on the sunshine. 🔆
In mid October, when a small group of old friends came over for my birthday, one of them mentioned he’d be celebrating his January birthday at an airbnb in Puerto Vallarta. Now, this friend, I’ll call him Jerry, is by far the most successful financially of our little band, and thoroughly enjoys the fruits of his labor. So, as he showed us pictures on his phone, I jokingly whined, “Take us, Jerry!” as I leaned against his shoulder looking at the images. This is my common reaction over the years when Jerry discusses his exploits. This time, though, Jerry asked, “If I invited you, would you come?” It took me aback and then I blurted, “Yes I would! I’d love to go,” still believing we’re just messing around.

Jerry was serious, though. He explained there were nine bedrooms and one had become available due to a cancellation. Did we want it? No cost? Although my ability to travel is compromised due to chronic illness and chronic pain, I answered, “How could I not?” My husband joined us and I energetically told him we’d been invited to Puerto Vallarta and “all” we had to pay for was flights and food. Wolf was not as quick to jump. I couldn’t believe it, but another of our long-time friends told me to chill out and that my husband needed to process. That’s how close we all are.
Eventually, Wolf agreed. We’ve spent the past two months imagining and planning. As New Year’s neared, we’ve become so excited! We’ll be leaving home while the high temperature is in the mid 30’s. When we land, we’ll be enjoying daytime temps in the mid 80’s.

From the airbnb listing: “Villa Mis Rocas is an elegant 9-bedroom ocean front villa. It has 12.5 baths, 6 large terraces, infinity pool, jacuzzi, and ocean level pavilion. The house has 6 levels with 13,000 sq ft of living space, all anchored into the granite foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains. The home is perched on the edge of the Bay of Banderas with almost every room has a panoramic view of the Vallarta coastline as well as a close-up view of the Los Arcos marine sanctuary. Each of the 9 bedrooms has their own private bathroom with tub and or shower.”

We’ll pay our share of food and drink.

What an amazing estate! Never in my life did I imagine I’d stay in such luxury accommodations. Each of the bedrooms has its own bath but one of them has no windows. I’m sure this will be ours since we’re not paying. I like the energy and we sleep together in a queen-sized bed always. As my husband pointed out, we’re not going to be spending our time in our room much anyway. This though. I do wish I could lie in bed and see out. The hunt will be on for comfortable spots.

I’ve always been partial to cozy nooks:

I’ve already requested a massage and lunch on a day when many others go on a hike or lengthy day trip involving more energy (spoons) than I have.

From a listing on Leading Estates of the World website: “When Vallarta’s master architect Cachi Perez waved his wand, the celebrity’s vision of what a beach house in Puerto Vallarta should be materialized fully. Laced with Mediterranean romance, sun-drenched Casa Mis Rocas is a visual feast. The soaring villa dominates a spectacular oceanfront perch along the elite South Shore. A voluptuous 22-foot-high grand salon flanked by a circular dining room and bar lounge evokes awe as the dramatic centerpiece. Adjoining, a mammoth marble kitchen accelerates the excitement. From this main area, a glass-front Otis elevator reveals other dazzling multilevels of 9,200 square feet featuring three private guest suites. Romance reaches its zenith in a palatial master suite that—like the rest of the house—is gloriously one with the pool and spa terraces and the entire Bay of Banderas.”

Including Los Arcos:

Even writing this post has me pinching myself; it doesn’t seem real that I’ll be there in 10 days! I will definitely post about my trip – maybe I’ll recreate some of the promo pics featuring my husband and myself. 😊Adios for now!
