Facing Off

Cannot wait for this election to be done, however it turns out. I live in a house divided.

Husband comes home, talking about a friend of a friend receiving a letter saying she was positive for coronavirus, even though she’d only done the paperwork but left the clinic without being tested. “That’s being done a lot.”

“Do you know it’s happening a lot?”

“Well, no but I know they’re reporting deaths as COVID even if they actually die from something else.”

A bunch of talking points were exchanged, with way more talking than listening on both sides.

We said, “I can’t believe you can’t see through it!” to each other.

“Stop being fed,” was met with, “Stop drinking the Kool-aid.”

We repeatedly agree not to talk politics and then talk about politics. How many days to the election? And how many days after that before politics can fade into the background? Ever?

Please, God, let our house and our country get to a place where we can agree to disagree agreeably.

Writing is one of my passions. Most blog entries are relatively short articles regarding a wide variety of topics. I'm a middle-aged wife and mother of two adult sons. I've been a teacher, counselor, medical transcriptionist, student teacher supervisor, substitute teacher and retail clerk. Staying home now due to fibromyalgia. Seeking purpose.
