Oh, look! Congress certified Trump’s Presidential Election today ahead of the inauguration on January 20th. The democratic process is following the constitutional rules of how a President is elected. What a beautiful thing, and I never thought certifying the results of an election would stir such patriotism in me.
No one held a rally for people who voted against the person elected following a fair election. Droves of folks weren’t incited to and didn’t march on the Capitol, urged to “fight like hell.” People weren’t tediously combing through every facet of every city and county across the country for any morsel of outrage they could pinch from elections deemed free from fraud by local officials.
I didn’t tune into the certification this year because there were no hordes of people trying to get in the windows and doors, maybe tunnels, to disrupt the course as determined by our founding fathers. Outside, there were no fake gallows or people calling to hang Vice President Harris. Senators and House members were able to complete the procedure without evacuating to escape individuals who stormed into and desecrated the seat of our democracy. Before I knew it, it was over. It didn’t extend until 3:00 am.
What a breath of fresh air! The embrace of our constitutional presidential election by MAGA is notable, but I seriously doubt many appreciate the irony. Our constitution has withstood a civil war, world wars, and 46 previous administrations. My hope lies there. May Jan 6, 2021 stand in infamy, forever a stain on MAGA.
